Our Inspiration

Parker Thomas “Tom” Feldpausch

Tom, the son of Roman C. and Margaret (Parker) Feldpausch, was born on September 8, 1931 in Hastings, MI. He was a 1949 graduate of Hastings High School and 1953 graduate with his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame. Tom was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Donna “Dolores” Van Houten.

Tom served his country honorably during the Korea War in the United States Army as a PFC. His career with Felpausch Food Centers spanned more than 50 years from pouring cement at the Hastings store in 1949; to Meat Supervisor, Director of Store Engineering, Executive Vice-President; to his appointment in 1986 as President and CEO until his retirement in 1999.

Tom was a visionary leader and believer in his community. He served on numerous Boards’ of Directors including Oven Fresh, Spartan Stores, Inc., Albion Hospital, Albion Chamber of Commerce and most recently, the Marian E. Burch Adult Day Care and the Kids N Stuff Children’s Museum.

Tom always found time to enjoy visiting the Felpausch Stores to have coffee with the staff, traveling and golf. However his true passion in life was his family and his family of employees throughout the chain of grocery stores. He passed away on October 5, 2012.
